In 2013 we introduced five novice classes for any member who had never been placed in any class; only one member entered any sticks resulting in several rosettes being wasted.
The committee decided that a member may enter any of the above classes but entries will be limited to two sticks per class

We want to encourage more members to enter the show and most of you will have made one or more sticks that can be included in some of the above classes so please enter your sticks
There will be four awards in each class (1st. 2nd. 3rd and highly commended). Rosettes will also be awarded for the Best in Show stick and Reserve Best in Show.

Our judge for 2016 is a very experienced stick-maker and judge. Some of the points he will be looking for are:-  good shape, good balance, good joints, good finish, workman-ship and artistic flair. He will chose sticks that he likes the best and his decision is final. Sticks do not have to conform with the British Stickmakers Guild standards.  He has judged at the BSG AGM where all the best stick-makers in the country compete, we are lucky to get him so bring your best sticks.

Ferrules, collars and caps are optional on all sticks except natural thumb-sticks which may only be fitted with a ferrule.
Turned handles and shanks are allowed.
Pre- formed handles are allowed but may receive lower marks from the judge.   Fancy sticks may have any type of decoration or carving.
