Tim 2014

this is some of the group awaiting the arrival of pete wheeler and brian sansom.

they travelled together and were an hour late after getting lost.

tim never let them forget this as he good humouredly ribbed all around the wood

Tim patiently answered all our novice questions with his in depth explanations of his beloved woodland subject. His sense of humour kept us amused all the way around this 14 acre woodland near Yeovil.

At lunchtime we adjourned to the "Griffin's Head" pub at Nether Compton near to Tim's timber store.

Tim in a bush

This is Tim stood alongside a bush of goat willow demonstrating the length of grown in only one year.

The hazel is coppiced here every six years across a rotating cycle of compartments separated by rides or pathways .

This is the entrance to one of Tim's wood stores. To our little team of stickmakers this is like going into a giant sweet shop as a child.

The wood is all native timber gathered by Tim and carefully seasoned over many years.

Tim knows every piece individually.

The view inside the store gives some idea of the extent of the material stored here.

Some of the pieces are huge and would make fantastic one-piece table tops.

Brian Waters has discovered a giant one-piece stick.

Tim slimmed down one of these giants with his chainsaw and Brian took it away to make a crook.

We look forward to seeing it.

Anyone need a knob stick?

Tim advertises in the BSG Stickmaker magazine, why not pay him a vist and relieve him of some of this massive stock.
